Margaretville Hospital Puts 4WD Ambulance Into Service

Margaretville, NY – Jul. 7, 2010 – Margaretville Hospital has put its first four-wheel-drive ambulance into service.

The Auxiliary of Margaretville Hospital and Mountainside Residential Care Center raised $120,000 to purchase the 2010 Ford ambulance. The vehicle was delivered on June 18 and personnel then began the process of equipping the vehicle for duty.

Auxiliary officers were on hand to present the ceremonial check for the ambulance to Hospital Executive Director Ed Morache. This marks the first time that Margaretville Hospital has owned a four-wheel-drive ambulance.
The auxiliary traditionally sets fund-raising goals and the group has been working diligently for several years to earn money for the ambulance purchase. The organization raises funds through its Thrift Shop in Margaretville, the Harvest Moon Ball, the Spring Fling dance event, a golf tournament and the annual Antique and Flea Market each August.

In anticipation of receiving the new ambulance, renovations were recently completed to raise the height of the hospital’s ambulance garage to accommodate the taller vehicles that are now standard in the industry.
