Family Medicine Residency Program

A residency program was established in 1979 to address the shortage of primary care physicians in the Mid-Hudson Region. There have been over 150 physicians that have gone through this residency program.

The mission is to prepare family physicians to serve as leaders in health care, using a biopsychosocial approach that integrates the psychological, social, economic and environmental influences on a person’s health with biomedical causes. The residency program builds on the comprehensiveness of family practice with an emphasis on the particular needs of medically underserved communities.
