Cardiac Wellness and Prevention:
Presentations on cardiac wellness discuss risk factors for heart disease, heart disease statistics and most importantly, modifying or minimizing those risks. Presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of an organization, bringing educational spotlights on cardiac catheterization, pacemakers/AICDs, angina and treatment, acute coronary syndromes, cardiac diagnostic testing and more.
Diabetes Education Center:
The Kingston Hospital Diabetes Education Center has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for meeting its high educational standards and for offering quality self-management diabetes education. The Diabetes Education Team is available to provide guest speakers to community groups. They also will provide education and training to children and adults with Type 1, Type 2, Gestational or Pre-Diabetes.
The Family Birth Place:
From the start of your pregnancy to the birth of your baby and after, you will find a knowledgeable and skilled staff member ready to meet a wide range of education and birthing needs and make the delivery of your baby a memorable one. The Family Birth Place is now located on the 4th Floor West Wing of The Kingston Hospital Campus. Childbirth classes are available as is an on-staff Lactation Consultant. Hartman Sleep Center:
The four-bed sleep center, open 7 days per week, is staffed by Registered Sleep Technicians and Respiratory Therapists. Dr. Zafar, the Medical Director, is a Board Certified Sleep Specialist. The Sleep Center is accredited through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
The Center can diagnose and treat a variety of sleep disorders including, but not limited to: obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, periodic limb movements during sleep, delayed sleep phase syndrome, narcolepsy and insomnia.
Infection Control:
The Infection Prevention and Control Department is responsible for monitoring and surveillance of all infections in the HealthAlliance system. Weeducate, design and maintain systems for the prevention ofhospital acquired infections.Topics of discussion would include: infection prevention strategies, hand hygiene, preparedness for a pandemic or bio terrorism event.
Oncology Support Program:
The Oncology Support Program at Benedictine Hospital Campus provides a wide range of support services for men and women with a cancer diagnosis or a history of cancer and their family members and friends. This nationally recognized program serves over 3,800 individuals each year and focuses on prevention, education, support and wellness.
Occupational Therapy:
Occupational Therapists are responsible for evaluating and treating acutely ill or recently injured adults. Fall prevention, issues of independence in the home, adaptive equipment and performing activities of daily living are areas that an Occupational Therapist concentrates on during a patients’ therapy.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation:
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation uses specialized exercises, equipment and manual techniques to restore function. Patients are also treated for neurological conditions like stroke and traumatic brain injury as well as specialized areas such as vestibular rehabilitation and fall prevention.
Pain Treatment Center:
Chronic pain reduction is the focus of The Pain Treatment Center. They are accredited by
The American Academy of Pain Management and assures the patient the best quality of interventional pain care. The Center is led by David Gamburg, M.D. who is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management.
The Pain Treatment Center offers services that can relieve, reduce, or manage pain to improve patient’s overall quality of life, and assisting patients to return to work and everyday activities, with little or no medication whenever possible.
Dialysis Center:
The Kingston Hospital Dialysis Center provides comprehensive Nephrology care for the adult and geriatric patients in our community with renal impairments. The program offers in-center outpatient hemodialysis and home peritoneal dialysis with 24 hour support services. Education on chronic kidney disease and organ donation/transplant awareness is offered to patients, families and community organizations.
Respiratory Therapy:
The Respiratory Therapy program has a number of topics and informational sessions touching on important new information relevant to the following topics: Smoking Cessation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Dealing with Asthma, Airborne Allergies and Respiratory Therapy.
Alcohol and Substance Abuse:
Do you know that more than 50 percent of all Americans have at least one close relative with a drinking problem? And that more than three million Americans over the age of 60 are alcoholics? The Kingston Hospital and Benedictine Hospital are the only licensed detoxification and rehabilitation programs in Ulster County. Licensed outpatient services are available as well. The Speakers Bureau can offer a visit from a member of our Professional Team.
Women’s Health:
HealthAlliance is fortunate enough to have two Women’s Centers; one on the Benedictine Campus, the Fern Feldman Anolick Breast Center, and one on The Kingston Hospital Campus, the Greenspan Center for Women’s Health. Our Women’s Health Center Team is ready to share information about the Centers and their programs, such as screening for Osteoporosis, which may not be detected until something breaks. Bone density tests can be arranged through the Speakers Bureau.
Wound Healing Center:
The Wound Healing Center has an expert team of specially trained support staff and physicians available to address problem wounds. The Center’s staff understands there are many factors that may be delaying or preventing the healing. The wound care team is trained to perform a complete history and physical exam and to develop an individualized treatment plan unique to each patient’s needs.
Orthopedics:
The Orthopedic Team is a team of experts for knees, shoulders, elbows, feet, hands, spine and hips.
The team will discuss with you on ways to relieve your pain, restore your independence and return to the activities you have been missing. Whether you have chronic joint pain from arthritis or other injury and it interferes with your daily activities like walking, exercise, recreation and work, our team of experts will educate you on the latest prevention and treatment options for your pain.
