Patient & Hospital Responsibilities

mom and babyPatient Responsibility
We ask that as our patient you provide complete information about your present condition, medical history and any other matters related to your health. We also ask that you provide feedback about your needs, concerns and expectations. Please tell us if you do not understand any aspect of your care.

When you sign a general consent for care you are giving your doctor permission to begin your course of treatment. Decisions about additional plans or procedures will be discussed with you, and your consent is required to begin them. Please express any concerns you may have about your desire or ability to follow the proposed care plan to    your doctor.

Our Responsibility to You
Our hospital is proudly accredited by DNV-GL for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Their mission is to help us continuously improve the safety and quality of care we provide to the public through evaluation and performance improvement initiatives. Two very important areas are Surgical Safety and Infection Control.

We are required to take a “time out” before all surgical procedures, even those performed outside the operating room, such as an infant circumcision. A time out is where all parties involved in the procedure sign off that we have the correct patient, correct procedure and correct site. And as always, our staff is vigilant about hand washing to prevent the spread of bacteria. We encourage patients and visitors to be vigilant also, and have installed antibacterial soap in all patient bathrooms as well as waterless hand cleaner dispensers in all patient rooms. Our moms and our babies have limited ability to fight infection. Hand washing is the easiest way to prevent it.

In accordance with HIPAA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), we do not share or disclose any information about your care, your stay, or your payment arrangements with anyone outside of our department that is not directly involved in your care. In addition, no inquiries made about your care, either in person or over the phone, will be answered.
