Millions of Americans suffer from neck and back pain. It is the 3rd most common reason for visits to a physician office and affects up to 80 percent of the adult population. It can make daily activities difficult and sometimes unbearable. Our physicians are highly specialized and trained in the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for the treatment of spine disorders including herniated discs, back and neck pain, vertebral compression fractures, scoliosis and spinal instability.

We successfully treat most spinal problems utilizing aggressive non-surgical treatments. Persistent pain or disability that fails to respond to non-surgical treatments, may respond better to surgery. One of our spine specialists will evaluate your condition and your response to non- surgical methods of treatment, and together, you and your physician can determine whether you would benefit from spine surgery.

Today there are procedures available to correct some spinal disorders using minimally invasive techniques such as microdiscectomy and kyphoplasty.

A microdiscectomy is typically performed for a herniated lumbar disc and is actually more effective for treating leg pain (also known as radiculopathy) than lower pack pain. With a microdiscectomy, the surgeon makes a much smaller incision and uses a microscope to locate the disc through the incision. The benefits of the smaller incision include less pain, less disruption of tissues and a small sized scar.

Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used for treating vertebral fractures resulting from osteoporosis. This procedure can be done on an outpatient basis which means you do not have to stay overnight in the hospital.

Other common procedures:

• Laminectomy
• Discectomy
• Spinal Fusion
